About FreshwaterNest

FreshwaterNest is an independent freshwater-aquarium reference built by practicing hobbyists. We turn scattered forum advice and spec-sheet marketing into one reliable, citation-backed page you can act on — whether you are cycling your first 10-gallon tank or fine-tuning a 200-gallon planted display.

Our editorial policy

Every care sheet and guide is written from hands-on experience and checked against established aquarium science (the nitrogen cycle, biological filtration, quarantine protocol). We cite our sources, flag when advice is opinion vs evidence, and update pages when better methods appear. We do not accept payment to recommend specific products.

Who writes for us

Every guide is written and reviewed by practicing hobbyists with documented experience. We separate opinion from evidence and update pages as methods improve.
